ETERNAL RAMDISK
Public Domain
All STs
FILENAMES: ETERNAL.PRG, CONFGRAM.TOS, ETERNAL.DOC
Eternal Ram disk will not run from our cover disk menu
program, CLICK_ME, due to the fact that is is run on boot up. To use
it, copy the file ETERNAL.PRG into your work disk's AUTO folder. Make
sure that it is the first thing that you put into that folder as
ETERNAL must be the first program executed on boot up. Next, you must
copy CONFGRAM.TOS into the same auto folder. To configure your ram
disk, you must run CONFGRAM and the following prompts will appear:
Drive Identifier: Enter C (capital C), press RETURN
Size (100) : Enter disk size in Kilobytes, press RETURN
The next step is to install your ram disk on the desktop.
First click on the drive 'A' icon and then select Install Disk Drive
from the Options menu. Enter the drive identifier letter that you
entered within CONFGRAM (don't press return) and then click on the
Install gadget. If you entered 'C' within CONFGRAM then you must enter
C into the drive identifier field. A disk drive icon will now appear
on the desktop. Now select Save Desktop from the options menu and the
setting up is now complete (at last!). Reboot your ST and your eternal
ram disk will appear.
When your ST crashes or you reset it, you must boot with the
disk that holds the ram disk program else your eternal ram disk will
be destroyed. For more information on copying files/installing disk
drives, refer to your ST users manual and the 'How to use this disk'
page at the end of the disk extra section. Full instructions can be
found within Eternal's folder.
